# Knowledge · Add a web page to a knowledge base

POST https://kd-agents.simplified.com/api/v1/knowledge-bases/{knowledge_base_id}/sources
Content-Type: application/json

Fetches the URL, extracts its text and indexes it. Returns the source
record straight away with `status: pending` — processing happens in
the background, so the passages are not searchable yet.

Only one page, not the site behind it: links are not followed. Add each
page that matters as its own source.

## Authentication

- `Authorization` header (required) (prefixed with ` Api-Key   `) — Header authentication of the form `Api-Key  <token>`
- `Authorization` header (bearer token, required) — Bearer authentication of the form `Bearer <token>`, where token is your auth token.

## Request

### Path parameters

- `knowledge_base_id` (string, required) — Knowledge base UUID.

### Body (application/json)

This endpoint expects a KnowledgeSourceWrite.

- `url` (string, required) — Page to fetch and index. Public HTTP(S) only — private and loopback addresses are rejected.
- `title` (string, optional) — Label for the source. Defaults to the URL.

## Response

### 201

The created source, at `status: pending`.

## Errors

### 400 Bad Request Error

The URL is malformed, private, or otherwise not fetchable.

No such knowledge base in this workspace.
