# Social · Tags · Create a new social-media tag (label)

POST https://api.simplified.com/api/v1/tags
Content-Type: application/json

Creates a new tag for social-media posts. Tag names are NOT enforced unique by the
backend — call `listSocialMediaTags` first and reuse an existing tag if a tag with
the same name already exists, to avoid creating duplicates.
