# Media · Video · Change video playback speed

POST https://api.simplified.com/api/v1/tools/speedup-video
Content-Type: application/json

Change playback speed by `playbackrate`: >1 speeds up (2 = 2× faster),
\<1 slows down (0.5 = half speed). Async — returns a task\_id (auto-polled).

## Authentication

- `Authorization` header (required) (prefixed with ` Api-Key   `) — Header authentication of the form `Api-Key  <token>`
- `Authorization` header (bearer token, required) — Bearer authentication of the form `Bearer <token>`, where token is your auth token.

## Request

### Body (application/json)

This endpoint expects an object.

- `video_url` (string, required) — URL of the source video.
- `playbackrate` (double, required) — Playback speed multiplier (e.g. 2.0 = double speed, 0.5 = half speed).

## Response

### 202

Async task queued.

- `task_id` (string, optional) — Poll GET /api/v1/tasks/\{task\_id} until SUCCESS or FAILURE.
