Define the question Choose accounts, a reporting period, and the decision you need to make: > Compare our LinkedIn and Instagram performance for the last complete calendar month. Show the strongest posts, explain what the available metrics suggest, and recommend three content tests. Resolve relative dates into explicit dates and a timezone. For comparisons, use equivalent periods and state the dates in the report. ## 2. Discover accounts and available dates Use `social_getSocialMediaAccounts` to select account IDs. Call `social_getSocialMediaAnalyticsRange` to inspect the available reporting range before requesting data. Newly connected accounts and different platforms can have different coverage. ## 3. Retrieve the right level of detail | Tool | Use it for | | ------------------------------------------ | ------------------------------------------------------ | | `social_getSocialMediaAnalyticsAggregated` | Overall account performance across the selected period | | `social_getSocialMediaAnalyticsPosts` | Individual post performance and content comparisons | | `social_getSocialMediaAnalyticsAudience` | Available audience demographics and composition | Follow pagination and filters in each tool's current schema. If only one page is retrieved, label the results as a sample rather than claiming they cover every post. ## 4. Explain the results Separate measured results from interpretation. Include the account, date range, metric definition, and any missing coverage. Do not treat missing data as zero or compare differently defined platform metrics as though they were identical. When calculating rates, state the denominator. A post with the most total interactions is not necessarily the post with the highest interaction rate. ## 5. Make the report actionable Ask the assistant for a short narrative, a comparison table, and a small number of next actions. Tie each recommendation to observed evidence. Save the report to a [project](/mcp/projects) if you want to keep it with campaign deliverables. > Turn connected-account metrics into a useful report.
