A connection created with `claude mcp add` does not automatically configure Claude chat. You need access to Simplified and permission to use custom connectors in your Claude account or organization. ## 1. Add the connector Open **Settings → Connectors** and choose the custom-connector option. Name it **Simplified** and enter: ```text https://apikit.simplified.com/mcp ``` In a managed organization, an owner may need to add or approve the connector through organization settings first. Use the controls available to your account; see [Claude's remote connector instructions](https://support.claude.com/en/articles/11175166-get-started-with-custom-connectors-using-remote-mcp). ## 2. Sign in and enable it Connect the server and complete Simplified OAuth. Open a new conversation and enable Simplified in the available tools/connectors controls. If your connector dialog supports custom request headers, an API key is an alternative: use `Authorization: Bearer YOUR_API_KEY`. Enter the actual secret only through the client's supported credential settings. See [authentication](/mcp/authentication) for workspace scope and key handling. ## Verify the connection Start a new conversation if the client has not loaded the new tools. Ask: > Use Simplified to identify my connected workspace and list its teamspaces. Do not create or change anything. The assistant should call `api_getWorkspaceInfo` and `api_listTeamspaces`, then report the workspace and available teamspaces. Choose the intended teamspace before starting work. A saved server entry or a successful skills installation alone does not verify tool access. Next, follow the [MCP quickstart](/mcp/quickstart) to prepare a social draft. For a read-only first task, ask the assistant to list your brand kits. Social accounts are only needed for social tasks; an empty account list does not mean the connection failed. ## Use workflow guidance Start with [Simplified skills](/skills/what-are-skills) for campaign planning, repurposing, or creative production. Reading a guide in chat does not install it as a persistent skill. Use your client's supported reusable-instruction features when available, and keep connection status separate from instruction availability. You do not need to install the Simplified CLI to use the hosted connector. Running an npm installer in a Claude chat sandbox does not install anything on your computer. ## Troubleshooting * **No custom-connector option:** check account availability and organization permissions; use [Claude Code](/setup/claude-code) if that is the environment you intend to configure. * **The assistant answers without a tool call:** enable Simplified for the conversation and request the workspace check explicitly. * **Wrong workspace:** inspect the authenticated identity before reconnecting with the intended account or credential. * **Some operations are missing:** inspect [tool availability](/mcp/profiles-and-tool-inventory); connecting successfully does not guarantee every tool family is enabled. For recurring authentication errors, use the connector's reconnect controls and inspect the reported error before deleting its configuration. > Connect Simplified to ordinary Claude chats.
