# Muse Code

This guide is for **Muse Code**, Meta's terminal coding agent. For the Muse personal assistant, use the [Muse guide](/setup/muse).

## Add the MCP server

Muse Code reads user settings from `~/.config/muse/settings.json`. Merge the `simplified` entry into the existing `mcp_servers` object without replacing other settings:

```json
{
  "mcp_servers": {
    "simplified": {
      "transport": "streamable_http",
      "url": "https://apikit.simplified.com/mcp",
      "enabled": true,
      "mode": "optional"
    }
  }
}
```

Use `mode: "optional"` if you want Muse Code to start when Simplified is temporarily unavailable. Keep the existing settings and other servers when editing the file.

## Sign in and verify

Run:

```bash
muse mcp login simplified
```

Complete the browser sign-in, then open Muse Code and use `/mcp` to check that Simplified and its tools are present. Ask:

> Use Simplified to identify my workspace and list my teamspaces. Do not create or change anything.

The response should come from Simplified tools. Follow the [verification checklist](/setup/verify). For reusable workflow instructions, see the [Simplified skills repository](https://github.com/celeryhq/simplified-ai) and Muse Code's own [skills guidance](https://dev.meta.ai/docs/muse-code/extending).

See Meta's [MCP server configuration](https://dev.meta.ai/docs/muse-code/extending) for current settings and OAuth behavior.
