Use Simplified tools and workflow skills from Cursor Agent.

Before you start

Use this guide for your local Cursor installation. Choose whether the connection belongs to your user or a single project. Reuse an existing working Simplified connection. You need Node.js and npm only if installing skills through the command below.

1. Add the MCP server

Use ~/.cursor/mcp.json for personal setup across projects, or .cursor/mcp.json inside a project. Merge the entry into an existing mcpServers object rather than replacing the file:

{
"mcpServers": {
"simplified": {
"url": "https://apikit.simplified.com/mcp"
}
}
}

2. Authenticate and enable tools

Open Cursor’s MCP settings, enable Simplified, and complete OAuth when prompted. Use Agent with the Simplified tools available. Follow Cursor’s MCP documentation for the controls in your installed version.

If OAuth cannot complete, inspect the connection error before switching to API-key authentication. Do not commit an API key in a project configuration file.

3. Add Simplified skills

If skills are not already installed, inspect the catalog:

npx skills add celeryhq/simplified-ai --list

Install for Cursor across projects:

npx skills add celeryhq/simplified-ai --skill '*' --agent cursor --global

For a single project, omit --global. Review the installer’s selected destination, then reload the session if the skills are not visible. Skills provide instructions; the MCP connection supplies the tools and authentication.

Verify the connection

Start a new conversation if the client has not loaded the new tools. Ask:

Use Simplified to identify my connected workspace and list its teamspaces. Do not create or change anything.

The assistant should call api_getWorkspaceInfo and api_listTeamspaces, then report the workspace and available teamspaces. Choose the intended teamspace before starting work. A saved server entry or a successful skills installation alone does not verify tool access.

Next, follow the MCP quickstart to prepare a social draft. For a read-only first task, ask the assistant to list your brand kits. Social accounts are only needed for social tasks; an empty account list does not mean the connection failed.

Troubleshooting

  • Configuration does not load: check JSON syntax and whether you edited the global file or the intended project’s file.
  • A server is listed twice: inspect both scopes and keep the intended entry; preserve other servers in the file.
  • Tools are disabled: enable the connection and relevant tools in Cursor, then start a new Agent conversation if necessary.
  • A local file cannot be attached to a Simplified operation: the hosted server cannot read your computer’s path. Follow asset uploads.
  • A cloud agent has no connection: do not assume local Cursor configuration applies to a remote execution environment. Configure that environment through its supported MCP controls.

Let Cursor follow this guide

Read https://docs.simplified.com/setup/cursor.md and set up Simplified for this Cursor installation. Preserve existing configuration and verify the connected workspace.
